About the course

Workshop description:

The use of drawings in therapy with children is widely recognized. However, for children’s art to hold therapeutic value, one must have faith that an image holds meaning and thus may be communicating something, or a belief in the old adage that “a picture speaks a thousand words.”  Spontaneous art provides a visual opportunity for a child counselor to instantly tap into children’s perceptions of their world.

This workshop will present several therapeutic drawing art assessment interventions that Dr. Courtney has found to be most helpful in her 35-years of practice with children.

This workshop is supported by interventions found in my book, “Healing Child and Family Trauma through Expressive and Play Therapies: Art, Nature, Storytelling, Body and Mindfulness
